London Interior Designers You Should Be Following On Instagram

For inspiration, trend watching or the simple enjoyment of truly great design, these are some of our favourite London Interior Designers that you should be following on Instagram.

1. Design & That @designandthat

Founded in 2016 by Emma Shone-Sanders, this Victoria Park-based studio has racked up an impressive range of projects since its inception including HQ of Rainbowwave, a London-based PR agency, and a boutique hotel in Scotland.

Emma and her partner, Jade, define their style as ‘pared-back and contemporary, yet relaxed, inviting and liveable’. They are known for classic Scandi designs and intense, moody colours built up from a muted colour palette.

2. Yellow London @yellowlondon.id

Cath Beckett and Liv Wallers bonded over their passion for patterns, colours and classic furniture before realising that passion could translate into a business. In 2017, they set up Yellow London. While they don't have one defining style, their interiors are frequently bright and feature gloriously opposing patterns.

Cath and Liv agree that their pairing complements each other's skillset. Cath's niche is texture, colour and narrative while Liv brings her devotion to antiques and period artworks.

3. Elicyon Ltd @elicyon

Elicyon is the brainchild of Charu Gandhi, a London-based architect who previously contributed to the London Olympics Masterplan while working at Allies and Morrison. In 2014 she struck out on her own, elevating her team with the addition of projects director David Harris and Swedish-born creative director Cecilia Halling.

Charu created Elicyon to utilise her love of craft, which she couldn't use freely in the world of architecture. ‘I aim to create exquisite “interior couture” – something that speaks to the client’s dreams for their home,’ she explains.  She cites art deco, mid-century and Biedermeier periods as her primary furniture inspiration.

4. Campbell-Rey @campbellrey

In 2007, there was a fortuitous meeting of two teenagers who both happened to be working as editors on the biannual magazine, Acne Paper. Fast forward to 2014 and those two teenagers, Duncan Campbell and Charlotte Rey, were all grown up and ready to launch their much dreamed-about design studio.

With varied projects that range from branding and styling a hotel to designing a penthouse in Mayfair to creating the trophy for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, Duncan and Charlotte have built a design practice that includes residential and commercial interiors, product design and creative direction.

5. Maddux Creative @madduxcreative

In one of the more entrancing stories of interior design partnerships, Tennessee-born Scott Maddux and British-born Jo Le Gleud met on a club dancefloor in 1996 - and the rest is Hollywood movie script history. Today they lead a team of gorgeous and talented interior designers and architects who create strikingly unique interiors for discerning clients.

Combining Scott's eclectic architecture with Jo's embroidery expertise, the studio's style is "stand up and take notice" kind of bold as they persuade their clients to experiment with out-of-the-box colours and textures.

6. Owl Design @owldesignlondon

While studying interior architecture at Ravensbourne University in London, students Sophie van Winden and Simone Gordon were immediately drawn to each other through their similar styles. In 2014 they founded Owl Design, a design studio that specialises in stylish residential interiors.

Their work features fluid shapes and clever use of patterns and encompassing colours. Sophie says their aim was to inject a sense of fun and light-heartedness that was lacking in the world of interiors. Their design philosophy is that "your home should make you smile."

7. Tala Fustok Studio @talafustokstudio

Tala Fustok is a British-Palestinian interior designer based in Notting Hill. As a child, she roamed London’s flea markets and art galleries with her parents and developed an eye for vintage pieces. Her passion for design was bolstered by the rich mix of influences that her heritage provided.

Tala says she enjoys 'playing with opulent materials and juxtaposed textures to inject character.'  She is inspired by the glam of the 1970s, French modernism and the French stainless-steel artist Maria Pergay.

8. Holloway Li @hollowayli

Founders Alex Holloway and Na Li first met while apprenticing at the Michaelis Boyd design studio where they worked together on plans for Soho Farmhouse. In 2018 they decided to go it alone and specialise in luxury hospitality projects. Their signature style is a modern, opulent aesthetic complete with theatrical flourishes.

This was inspired first by Holloway's Catholic schooling and, later on, his passion for clubbing. Unsurprisingly, their interiors are strong and impactful and often centre around an element with almost cinematic quality.

9. Studio Ashby @studioashby

Sophie Ashby's eponymous studio is the most high-profile on this list with 157 000 IG followers at the time of publishing. A quick look at the gorgeous, art-inspired designs on her Instagram page tells you why.

Sophie regularly designs a room around an artwork. This combined with a strong eye for mixing patterns and sometimes unexpected colours, leads to interiors that are jam-packed with visual interest and personality.

10. Studio Duggan @studioduggan

Before opening her own design studio, Tiffany Duggan studied Scenic Art at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. After an internship at ELLE Decoration where she realised her love of interiors, she dropped everything and went for it.

And it paid off. Her flair for the theatrical is apparent in everything she does, from intelligent colour layering and brightly upholstered furniture to bold wallpaper and large prints. She designs predominantly for residential projects throughout Europe.
