The BD Barcelona logo represents more than a brand mark; it symbolises a design revolution that began when five young architects met at Barcelona's Architecture University in the early 1970s.
Pep Bonet, Cristian Cirici, Lluís Clotet, Mireia Riera, and Oscar Tusquets recognised a conspicuous absence in the design landscape. Quality, innovative furniture pieces that challenged conventional aesthetics were simply unavailable in the market.
Initially named Bocaccio Design, after the Barcelona nightclub where their ideas first took shape, the company was quickly renamed BD Ediciones de Diseño. Bocaccio served as a cultural hub for Barcelona's creative minds to discuss art, architecture, and design.
Their founding philosophy was simple: create furniture with genuine character, regardless of manufacturer interest.
