Arcahorn, just like the name implies, is all about working with Zebu horns. This type of work is something that had been lost for many decades in the home industry, until it was picked up again by Italian founder Mario Guerra in 1958, in a small Italian town called Recanati, where he decided to open his first laboratory. Guerra was always driven and passionate for this kind of work, using a material that's not only naturally elegant, but also extremely complex and multifaceted. There isn't one precise way to be working with Zebu horns, there are thousands, and many more are still coming to the surface today.

Arcahorn strives to turn this incredible material into something that makes a statement about tradition, passion and "Made in Italy" excellence. The company has been worked on by generations of family members for as long as 60 years now, and it really shows, thanks to the incredible design pieces that recently came out of production. Not only are Zebu horns fine pieces for designing furniture, but they've been used for a long time, even during the Renaissance, where crucial techniques were developed to treat the material and derive beautiful pieces out of it.

Arcahorn was founded as Arca by Mario Guerra in 1958. Since then, he has given a horn a new light and shape using his hands and the help of fire. The horn is a precious material that inspired and gave birth to unmatched furnishing works that showcase the craftsmanship and eye for creativity of an artist and the desire for excellence.

Although Mario Guerra’s craftsmanship has evolved and passed on from the workshop to the hands of the current generation, it remains the mark of Arcahorn and a symbol of absolute perfection.

Arcahorn Design and Production

The company uses rare materials that are carefully chosen and worked one step at a time. It is normal for an entire season to pass before a production cycle in Arcahorn is completed, what with the meticulous attention to detail and the effort exerted to bring a limited collection to life.

Horn refers to a material that consists of keratin and is used to make decoration, furniture, and tools, among others. Because of its somewhat thermoplastic characteristic, it is was formerly used as something similar to plastic. It can be used for making glue as well.

Unlike materials that have stood the test of times, such as wood, iron, and stone, horn is reserved only for the special times. This is why Arcahorn manufactures furnishing solutions for clients that are specific and enjoy exclusivity. Have you ever seen a lighting fixture made using the horn? How about a bathroom organiser made of horn that has been exposed to fire, revealing its natural grain?

Arcahorn is a master at bringing the full potential of the material, creating fine pieces that bring out the delicate nuances of the horn. This is only made possible by skilled artisans and craftsmen. Hours are also spent holding the burin when using ancient metalworking techniques to engrave gold and create an extraordinary interplay of light on palladium covered surfaces.

Used in any space, Arcahorn brings elegance, refinement and unique aesthetics to its surroundings.

Depending on your choice of furniture or lighting piece, it can easily add a contemporary exoticism into any environment as well. No wonder it has become a symbol of Made in Italy anywhere around the world.
