Many customers who visit our showroom often ask, what is the difference between floor-to-ceiling wardrobes and fitted wardrobes?
If you are in the process of transforming your bedroom, one of the decisions you need to make is whether you want floor-to-ceiling wardrobes or fitted wardrobes.
But, that said, are they actually different? Or are they more or less the same thing? This article will dive into the facts.
"Fitted wardrobes" is a catch-all term for all wardrobes that are custom designed and built into a space in your room. It follows then that a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe is a fitted wardrobe because it is measured and designed to fit a specific area.
Floor-to-ceiling wardrobes are usually made up of one large panel that covers the whole wall from floor to ceiling. They frequently feature sliding doors that open and close smoothly along a track, creating an airy feel that allows you easy access and full visibility. They are created to fit from your floor all the way to the very top of your ceiling with no wasted space at the top.
Fitted wardrobes, on the other hand, do not have to go all the way to the ceiling, therefore not all fitted wardrobes are floor-to-ceiling wardrobes. Fitted wardrobes are also designed specifically according to your needs and tastes, from the size and materials to the way they might fit into awkward corners. You can choose between sliding doors and hinged doors and a very of features including shelves, drawers, hanging rails, boxes and hooks.

They are a great addition to your bedroom or any room in the house where you need to maximise the space that you have available, especially that dead space that is often found on top of freestanding wardrobes.
The best thing about floor-to-ceiling wardrobes - and indeed, fitted wardrobes - is that you can have one custom designed to your specified shape and size. So if you have a room with awkward corners or cornices, you can build the wardrobe around them and ensure it fits perfectly into the room.
Floor-to-ceiling wardrobes are the perfect way to make your bedroom a more functional, organized space. They're versatile and can be tailored according to the things that you need to store in them.
If you have a particularly large shoe collection, for example, you can include a special pull-out shoe rack in your wardrobe design. Got a scarf obsession? We can create a beautiful rotating pole with hooks where you can hang your scarves in a way where it is easy to find one to match your outfit.
We can include tiny drawers and cubby holes for precious jewellery and we can even create a space for your TV set if you'd like to tuck it away when not in use. The tailored feature options are endless.
