Tonon boasts a history rich in innovation and introducing many ‘firsts’ through the decades. In 1929 they were the first to bring the ‘bent wood’ technique to Italy which they reinvented again in 1983 as the Jonathan Chair. 

In 1985 they took the initiative of developing the first carbon fibre chair as a collaborative effort. In 1998 they shifted from using wooden structures to stronger, steel frames for more durability. By 2003 they had introduced their first integral foam chair which offered a sleeker look with the same level of comfort. In 2016 they introduced polyurethane ‘soft touch’ foam for the first time. Despite already having an impressive reputation, Tonon continues to experiment, learn and grow which ensures their designs are always a step ahead of their competitors.
